The mission of the Women's Resource Center of Sarasota County is women empowering women to achieve their full emotional and economic potential through education, support, networking and referrals. EDUCATION Focusing on empowering more women in their financial and emotional lives by offering career assessment; local labor market information; financial education, job search information and resources for training and scholarships. SUPPORT Finding models and mentors for increasing self esteem, enhancing skills, as heads of households, as parents and as community members. Reducing the likelihood of abuse of women and their children, through the development of skills in establishing healthy boundaries, as well as making healthy relationship decisions for themselves and their children. NETWORKING Working with WRC classes and workshops and other women to increase readiness for Business Building; Creating a Business Plan; Marketing; Accounting; Hiring; Insurance etc. Equally important is the formation of friendships that are supportive, empowering and nurturing. REFERRALS Through a support base of volunteer Peer Counselors; Peer Mentors, WRC staff and a carefully designed curriculum of classes structured to deliver information ranging from mind-body-spirit wellness to resolving conflicts, hiring an attorney; dealing with abuse; finding a job, a place to live or starting a new business. The WRCSC touches the lives of more than 12,000 women each year with the help of volunteers who provide 1000's of hours of service.
